Manali holiday destination

Destination

Manali

Pine forests, Solang Valley, and snow-point days in Himachal — the classic North India mountain break.

Manali is the Himachal trip most first-time mountain travellers from Gujarat actually complete. You get snow (in winter), a proper valley, cafes in Old Manali, and a day at Solang that can include paragliding if the weather allows — without needing a high-altitude permit like Ladakh.

Five days / four nights is the useful length: one day to arrive and recover, one day Mall Road / Hadimba / Old Manali, one full day Solang or Atal Tunnel, one buffer for weather. Shorter weekends work if you fly in and out of Bhuntar (Kullu–Manali airport) and accept a tighter pace.

Winter (Dec–Feb) is for snow; March–June is for clear views and adventure sports. Monsoon roads can be slow. We confirm closed stretches (Rohtang vs Sissu) before you travel so the “snow point” day is real, not a hanging promise.

Travel tips

  • Rohtang requires an online permit in season; Atal Tunnel often gives a snow/mountain day when Rohtang is closed.
  • Pack layers even in May — evenings drop quickly.
  • Manali from Gujarat is usually fly-to-Bhuntar or Chandigarh + road, or an overnight Volvo. We plan the overnight so you are not exhausted on day 1.
